Facebook is testing a new feature

Facebook has begun testing a new feature within their app ecosystem that lets you 'snooze' people from your News Feed, and stop getting updates from people or pages.   As per a report by TechCrunch, Facebook's new 'Snooze' feature will let you temporarily unfollow friends, groups or even pages for a stipulated time period.   The new feature keeps people from having to permanently unfollow or in some cases, even going to lengths of unfriending an individual for his/her posts. Snooze could be particularly helpful to people with larger social networking circles who could now decide exactly whom to keep out from their News Feed and for how long. Pages and Groups may benefit from Snooze as well, as it could reduce chances of an individual unliking or leaving it altogether.   The Snooze option can be spotted in the drop down box that appears on selecting post options, right alongside the 'unfollow' option which would let you block out the publication out of your News Feed permanently.

While there has not been any official confirmation of the feature, a Facebook spokesperson talking to the publication stated that the feature was being tested but refused to comment on when will we begin to see the feature on the App. “We’re testing new ways to give people control over their News Feed so they can stay connected with the stories they find most relevant,” said the Facebook spokesperson, talking to TechCrunch.   The report goes on to mention that while Facebook is already monitoring what features more often on a users News Feed based on likes, clicks or comments, keeping a tap on what you 'Snooze' will also let them filter News Feed content better.
